Safety by design

Meeting nearby should feel open.
Your location should not.

Flare combines privacy-minimised location sharing, host approval and server-enforced access rules. These controls support judgment; they do not replace it.

✦public area⌖meeting point

A fixed privacy area

One public centre.
No repeated location samples.

The approximate map position is generated once and stays stable. It is not recalculated on every refresh, which helps prevent repeated public samples being averaged to infer the private point.

Location

Approximate before acceptance

The server stores exact meeting coordinates separately and creates one stable, randomly offset public area inside the host’s chosen radius.

Access

Approval before private details

Only the host and accepted participants can read exact meeting details or participate in the event chat.

Control

Leave, remove, block and report

Members can exit a flare; hosts can remove participants; blocking creates bilateral separation and revokes relevant access.

Time

Access that does not linger

Flares disappear from discovery at expiry. Exact details and chat become inaccessible to members according to the event lifecycle.

Records

Limited safety retention

Restricted meeting and chat records may be retained for up to 30 days for incident response, then automatically deleted unless a preservation hold applies.

Moderation

Server-enforced account action

Reports, warnings, restrictions and suspensions are enforced behind the interface and recorded in an immutable moderation audit trail.

Meet thoughtfully

Product controls help.
Personal judgment still matters.

  • 01Prefer suitable public venues, particularly for a first meeting.
  • 02Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to return.
  • 03Respect boundaries. A join request, connection or message never implies consent to anything else.
  • 04Leave whenever you feel uncomfortable and call Triple Zero (000) when immediate help is required.
